Region Ten CSB serves about 6,000 people each year. The people we serve are referred to as consumers. Region Ten sees our consumers as partners with whom we work together to enrich our community one life at a time.
We are the first community service board to create a Consumer Advisory Council to stay in touch with and hear what our consumers think. Members of the CAC advise Region Ten and thus are an active part in how we do business. To go along with the Consumer Rights created by the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services, Region Ten and the CAC came up with a list of consumer responsibilities -- recognizing that you cannot have one without the other.
In an effort to aid in the recovery process, Region Ten works closely with Virginia's Human Services Training Center. There, consumers train to work with others in the mental health field. Region Ten also supports Virginia's Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) trainings and whenever possible, hires those who complete the training.
