Region Ten Adult Developmental Services promotes full societal inclusion and participation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We advocate for equality, individual dignity and other human rights and seek to expand opportunities for choice and self-determination. We try to influence positive attitudes and public awareness by recognizing the contributions by, of and for people with intellectual disabilities. We do that by offering a quality array of supports for people we serve. As we work toward these values, we understand the importance of establishing partnerships and strategic alliances with organizations that share our values and goals.

In our service delivery we pay attention to the specialized needs of our consumers. We strive to assist our non-ambulatory consumers by furnishing program locations with specialized equipment and assistive devices. We also recognize the need of those who are medically fragile and train staff in specialized medical procedures. Residents and Meadowcreek members must be at least 18 year of age, have a diagnosis of mental retardation, must be able to be safely supervised and supported in the staff client program ratios, and must have a funding source.

All Adult Developmental Services staff complete rigorous training. We also have a licensed psychologist who provides staff with therapeutic behavioral consultation services. Additionally, consumers have access to psychiatric services provided by Region Ten.

    Specific services include:
    • Congregate Residential Services - 24 Hour group homes located through our Charlottesville City and Albemarle County.
    • Supported Living Service - Intermittent supports for adults living in their own home or apartment. This service is designed to promote independence and a healthy lifestyle.
